Maree Horner
was born in Huntly in 1951. She completed
a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture
at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of
Auckland in 1974. Her work from the 1970s
was based in the sculptural concerns of that
time, site specific, environmental and installation
work. In 1981 after a period of overseas travel
she settled in South Taranaki where she and
her partner raised their three daughters.
She began working again in the 1990s, investigating
the processes of printmaking and painting.
Her recent work explores the relationship
between female and male in images that juxtapose
selected architectural elements and familiar
objects. She lives and works in Kaponga.
