This work was constructed specifically to explore the possibilities of experiencing a present point in time as part of an eternal continuum. The experience was to work on three levels, the physical, the emotional and the conceptual. The dimensions and orientation of the chamber and the angle of the mirrors were related to a one place and one time event which could also occur, given the appropriate specifications, in other places synchronistical or not.

Before the chamber could be constructed it was necessary to calculate the precise altitude of the sun at solar noon on the day of the event. This enabled the receptor tube for the sun Œs rays, and the mirrors to be set at the correct angles for a vertical beam of light to occur. By overlaying a series of maps it was possible to calculate the degree latitude for the car park. Then, using this information and a set of Sun Tables, it was possible to calculate the angle at which the sun's rays would strike the ground. This was verified by conducting a series of sextant readings at solar noon on the days leading up to the event.
