A rose on wire from tessuti. The flower and
the way the wire protruded out were so provocative
- it became a
living thing to me. I actually made the watercolour
thinking of the rose. The rose orchestrated
the whole box.
In this work we see the workings - two eyelets
support the rose. I liked the idea it needed
support. It also
operates as an electrical current. The rose
is a radio, it makes me think of a radio - wire
and radio, a
combination of something electrical and the
red rose dreaming.
Sound though not an active component in my boxes
is an important aspect and repeatedly occurs
- be it by the
rose radio, the veil of sound, colour and associations
as in "flower listening" the horizontal
variations of
colour act as bands of sound.
