CHRIS BRADDOCK

Christopher Braddock has exhibited widely across New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland and the USA. In 2007 he was the International Artist-in-Residence at Melbourne’s RMIT University and in 2004 he was recipient of the Arts Council of New Zealand Visual Arts Residency in New York City at the International Studio & Curatorial Program.

He is Associate Professor at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand, where he is Chair of St Paul St Gallery. He studied at the University of Canterbury, NZ, the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, and the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, where he took his MA. He recently completed a PhD engaging with ideas of performativity in relation to the artist’s body, objects that stem from performances, and spectator participation. His theoretical interests stem from the disciplines of art history, anthropology, and performance studies. He specialises in the part-sculptural object, performance, and body art.
